WHO'S YOUR DADDY?

| Posted in | Posted on Thursday, May 13, 2010

My room was a mess with shoes everywhere. I had a book shelf which I converted into a shoe rack with my sneakers stacked in an ugly pile. It was only supposed to hold 8 pairs but I threw in around 30 or so pairs and left the rest scattered on the floor.

Now people who know me well would tell you that I am a very organized person. Seeing my stuff all over my room really bugged the shit out of me. The only solution was to buy a shoe cabinet big enough to fit every pair in my rotation or to build my own. It was impossible to find a rack with my preferred measurements (that didn't sound right) so I ended up building my own.

Two things I rather not do on my own. Palengke and mom & pop hardware store shopping. Weird because supermarkets and big chain hardware stores are my favorite hang out spots. Ha ha.

Thanks to my dad for getting these for me from his favorite neighborhood hardware store! I knew he wasn't gonna let me do this on my own. He even hired a carpenter to do the job but when he saw that I was already working on it, he stayed and helped me out. We did most of the job while the carpenter assisted us. I actually enjoyed the one and a half hours we spent building it. Bonding time if you will. I don't even remember the last time we did something together.

3/4" thick

More wood

Eight layers in all

Ta-dah!

Not bad, eh?
